"If holding on is disturbing your peace, it's time to let go." Iyanla Vanzant

It finally accepted  that I couldn't soar with the weight of my past occupying space in my heart. I carried baggage so long, I thought it was simply who I was. But I remember crying out to the Lord...I remember agonizing on my knees, "Lord, help me! I am dying inside!" The Lord gave me the strength to release my past. Now I have a past. But my past doesn't have me.

Are you struggling with something in your past that you want the Lord to release you from? Write about it. What would freedom look like?

Prayer: Dear Lord, You saved me from the lies of my past. You allowed me to cry my last tear for that situation. I praise You and give You all the glory and honor. Now I can soar in Your name. My heart is open to the things of You. Lord, I love you. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Scripture Journaling

Print out or write scripture.

It's been a great day,  beginning with church this morning, spending time with family and creating with art journaling.

Reading 1 John 4 15-19 was right on time! Imagine fear not abiding in Love.  Imagine perfect Love driving out fear. Powerful words! I think about when I was young and all I was taught was fear....fear of coming, fear of going, fear of speaking, fear of being heard, fear of not being accepted, fear of the Lord not loving me because I felt imperfect.

1 John 4:19 reminds me of how to love....and the reason to love. My life changed when I accepted that I was able to love and that Christ loved me first. That's something to shout about!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for loving me first. Thank You for the courage to create art in Your name. Lord, continue to lead and guide me and I will continue to follow. In Jesus Name. Amen.

31 Days of Faith Art Journaling Day 12

31 Days of Faith Art Journaling

Day 12: Gouache Acrylic

Happy are those who hope is in the Lord their God.

Psalm 146:5

Today marks Day 12 of 31 Days of Faith Art Journaling. I am using Gouache acrylic paint pots. I have never used these paints before. So, I am not sure what to expect. I am open to mistakes and challenges as well as wonderful surprises!

Let's Begin!

Materials Used

Gouache Acrylic Paints

Black paint

White Paint

Gesso
***********************

Directions

1. I started with painting from the Gouache pots making random designs.

2. Using a stamp made from meat foam packaging, made little white dots.

3. Trace the lid of a jar to make a large black circle.

4. Random doodling

Scripture Journaling

Print out or write scripture and glue to card stock.

Lessons learned

*Gouache acrylic is very fast drying. So I couldn't maneuver it as easily as regular acrylics.

*Gouache acrylics are thick and rough which should be mixed with water or another media.

*Gouache acrylics colors are bold.

Overall I enjoyed this experience and will continue to experiment. I think the quick drying will be beneficial when a hair dryer or heat gun is not an option.

As I completed this page and thought about the scripture, I thought about the Christmas season and how so many people lose hope. I prayed for those who are struggling and can't find a clear way out of their situation. The worst for any of us is to lose hope.

The scripture spoke to me when I meditated on "whose HOPE is in the Lord their God". That's the key. Your hope has be in the Lord. We make so many little things in our lives gods. I pray for focus and to be able to encourage myself. I can truly say, I am happy and my hope is in the Lord, my God!

Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray for continued hope in You. Your are Alpha and Omega. Thank You for never leaving or forsaking me. In Jesus Name. Amen.

 **************************

I really enjoyed reading John 8. The chapter had so much in it.  As I am writing, I am listening to the song, Let Go and Let God. It’s all connected for me. Letting go and allowing God to show me who I AM in Him was the single most power miracle that changed my life! Years I spent searching , worrying and not understanding….or maybe not believing. But the truth of who I AM in Christ set me free from the lies that held me captive to my past.

Knowing that I have a purpose and nothing about my life was a mistake, helped resurrect something deep that was already in me.  I praise God for saving me and loving me while I am perfectly imperfect.

Do you have a “But God” testimony?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Amazing Grace. Thank You for who I am in You. Lord you never left me. I am truly grateful. I praise Your name.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

31 Days of Faith Art Journaling Day 10

31 Days of Faith Art Journaling

Day 10: Water Soluble Oil Pastels

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Woo Hoo! We have reached double digits!!! Day 10. This has been the most amazing journey. Though I have been journaling scriptures, I am also reading before and after the selected scripture. I sing to myself, listen to music or journal in the quietness of the morning. This journey is helping  me so much to hear from the Lord in this season. I pray this journey is  creating a deeper level of journaling for you.

Let's Begin!

Materials Used

Paper
Water Soluble Oil Pastels
Sharpie Permanent Marker

************************

Directions

1. Be free and allow yourself to draw , make circles or any design.

2. Rub the pastel to blend the colors. Pastels are very creamy and so much fun.

3. Outline focal points in black. Rub to blend

4. Seal your work

When working with oil pastels the chalk can transfer to other pages. You can seal with a fixative, spray varnish or frame your work. All spraying should be done outside. Currently, I don’t have a fixative, but read some where, you could use hair spray or matt medium. I will let you know how either of these works.

Scripture Journaling

Journal in the corners of your work.

My love for the Bible began in 3rd grade when Mrs. Powell use to read Bible stories each day. When I tried reading at home, I was often left confused and frustrated. Yet I was determined at age 9 or so to read the whole Bible. Still on a journey to listen to God through His Word, I have learned to pray for wisdom when studying the scripture. The same scripture may speak to me differently depending on what’s going on in my life. I find that amazing!

Was there ever a time when you handled or reacted in a situation before praying about it and the results less than favorable?

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask that You always go before me. If it is your will for me to understand certain situations, I will follow You. If it is Your will to prepare me for Divine answers, I trust You. In Jesus Name. Amen

Scripture Journaling

There is so much in this scripture text. I am going back to meditate more. This scripture was on my heart all day. It’s day 8, a New Beginning. I praise the Lord for this new start in my life. I finally understand that I am transitioning. He is taking me through. I don’t know where He is leading me, but I trust the Lord anyway. That’s really my testimony….I trust the Lord for this new season of transition in my life.

Can you remember a time when the Lord transitioned you? Did you have to leave people behind? Habits? Places?
